The co-founder of Devo and his bride hung their faces off a Twin Towers cake to celebrate their marriage with the most bizarre, and possibly offensive, wedding reception ... EVER.Jerry Casale -- Devo's singer and bassist -- married Krista Napp on Friday at Michael's Restaurant in Santa Monica. Of course, Friday marked the 14th anniversary of the September 11th attacks ... a fact the bride and groom made sure their guests would never forget.
Fact 1: Their cake was the World Trade Center, with their images on top of each tower.
Fact 2: Guests got real box cutters as party favors.
Fact 3: Their table setting cards had an image of a "Gerald & Krista" engraved box cutter.
Casale Claims it was a joke...I agree, 9/11 is a joke.

CHURCH OF THE SUBGENIUS
The Church of the SubGenius is a parody religion that satirizes better-known belief systems. It teaches a complex philosophy that focuses on J. R. "Bob" Dobbs, purportedly a salesman from the 1950s, who is revered as a prophet by the Church. SubGenius leaders have developed detailed narratives about Dobbs and his relationship to various gods and conspiracies. Their central deity, Jehovah 1, is accompanied by other gods drawn from ancient mythology and popular fiction. SubGenius literature describes a grand conspiracy that seeks to brainwash the world and oppress Dobbs' followers.
Ivan Stang, who co-founded the Church of the SubGenius in the 1970s, serves as its leader and publicist. He has imitated actions of other religious leaders, using the tactic of culture jamming in an attempt to undermine better-known faiths. Church leaders instruct their followers to avoid mainstream commercialism and the belief in absolute truths. The group holds that the quality of "Slack" is of utmost importance—it is never clearly defined. The number of followers is unknown, although the Church's message has been welcomed by college students and artists in the United States. The group is often compared to Discordianism. Journalists often consider the Church to be an elaborate joke, but a few academics have defended it as an honest system of deeply held beliefs.
Noted Members: Robert Anton Wilson, St. Kerry Thornley (co-founder of the
Discordians), Dr. Timothy Leary, Ken Kesey, Frank Zappa, Mark Mothersbaugh,
his grilfriend Nancye Fergussen, and Bob Cassale (DEVO), Penn Jillette of Penn and Teller, Hakim Bey, Jello Biafra, Mojo Nixon, Paul Reubens, David Byrne, Bradley Nowell
Blog post by Ivan Stang
"I've been in Chicago for the last week, and although I took the modem with me, I never had time to plug it in. I was being an actor in a CD-ROM interactive video game called DUELIN' FIREMEN being produced for the 3D0 system by a group of SubGenius filmakers and computer animator/vr programmers called Runandgun. It's a combination of multiple-choice filmed scenarios and v.r. game situations, all taking place in Chicago while the entire city burns to the ground. I have played two roles in it so far -- first an evil Man-In-Black and second, Cagliostro the evil 1,000-year old Mason whose spells started the fire. What sets this game apart from anything else I've ever seen is the TOTAL MIND-RAPE HILLBILLY SPAZZ-OUT STYLE of it. It makes Sam Raimi look like D.W. Griffith by comparison... makes Tim Burton look like Ernie Bushmiller. It is sick, twisted, weird and 'Frop-besoaked like nothing on earth. It stars Rudy Ray Moore aka DOLEMITE as the main fireman with cameos by Tim Leary, Mark Mothersbaugh, Terrence McKenna, Steve Yow of Jesus Lizard and all manner of local Chicago freaks and jokers. (YES! I spent the week WORKING with DOLEMITE. We DO BATTLE in a scene and you get to "PLAY" us in the game section. Now is that cool or what. Of course, you're probably too SOPHISTICATED to even KNOW who Rudy Ray Moore IS!!! (None of the crew did, although the winos outside the set recognized his VOICE.)) The real stars are the animation, fx and sets. It's like a LIVING-SURREAL CARTOON from the mind of a CRAZY MAN (in this case, director Grady Sain). The Runandgun crew are like this commune of crazed hillbilly technoids. I had the time of my life. The game won't be finished till July '95, though."
Stang: "Run&Gun premiered the demo of their DUELIN' FIREMEN CDRom-interactive game in Las Vegas and the game companies FLIPPED! So there's more "clout" in the right places for a PROPER SubGenius game to happen."
The Video even features a "Jumper".
If this game was made in a post-9/11 world it would have been called DUELIN' FIRST RESPONDERS
I would greatly appreciate any feedback on this video. In my opinion, this is another example of 9/11 predictive programming and an even worse cartoon than the one we saw on that day. Do you see what I see?
